A few tips on how to choose a chandelier

The interior of the room looks unfinished if the lighting of the room is not thought out.

A chandelier is the most important element of the furnishings, capable of making even a small space huge and luxurious, giving it elegance and special charm. It is no secret that people receive 90% of information through light, and its source must be selected with special care and attention.

What to look for when choosing lighting

You cannot buy a chandelier at random, this piece of furniture is selected strictly for a specific room. Therefore, when choosing, it is very important to take into account the characteristics of the room - its size, the color of the walls and the decoration of the ceiling, the presence of windows and the amount of light entering the room. Accordingly, the chandelier is selected according to the following criteria:

  • style;
  • sizes;
  • peculiarities of the situation;
  • type of device;
  • product power;
  • design features;
  • the lamps used.

The style of the chandelier should match the style of the room. It is very important to pay attention to the color scheme of the walls and ceiling, therefore the chandelier must be matched with the corresponding color of the frame and glass.

Today, choosing a chandelier for every taste is quite simple, since the range of models is incredibly wide. For example, a classic-type chandelier with a metal frame (for example, made of bronze) is well suited for a large living room. Modern lamps of various geometric shapes are good for Art Nouveau rooms. A fusion-style chandelier can become a bright spot in the interior.

The size of the lighting fixture must match the space in which it will be installed. It is clear that a massive chandelier is not suitable for a small room, and a small chandelier will look ridiculous in a huge hall.

Do not overload the interior, but leaving it unfilled is also bad. At the same time, it is necessary to monitor such an indicator as the illumination of the room. The number of arms and the height of the suspension should be optimal for bright lighting of the room.

For rooms with low ceilings, flat chandeliers or ceiling lights are ideal. Narrow and long corridors require elongated chandeliers. It is quite permissible to combine light sources, complementing the chandelier with sconces and floor lamps.

The color of the product should not be allowed to become dominant in the room. For a chandelier, it plays a secondary role and should be in harmony with the color palette of the entire interior design.

The luminaire can be ceiling or pendant. The choice depends on the height of the ceiling and its finish. For electrical safety purposes, the chandeliers are placed so that the lower edge of the lamp is located at a height of at least two, two and a half meters from the floor.

It is best to choose a chandelier with minimal power consumption. It is necessary to think over how many switching modes are required to create maximum comfort, whether it is necessary to install a device with an adjustable power consumption. Chandelier horns can also differ from each other:

  • to size;
  • diameter (mignon, standard);
  • material (ceramic or plastic).

When choosing a chandelier, one must take into account the design of the product. Traditionally, it consists of a body, this includes suspensions or other base on which the horns are fixed. Cartridges are installed in the housing, lamps and light diffusers are screwed into them. Some types of chandeliers can have reflectors, the task of which is to spread the light as much as possible throughout the room.

LED lamps are often used in modern lighting fixtures. All other types of light sources have practically ceased to be produced. LEDs are very economical, last a long time and have the ability to produce a variety of colors - from cool white to yellow.
